Rules and methods of the T.A.N. (Natural Aptitude Test)

This document is with the use of :

· Judges of the hounds group

· Drive club for sighthounds

· Experts qualifiers for the hounds group

· Sighthound owners

The S.C.C. adopted the grid of selection for the quotation of the hounds under the responsibility of FALAPA Club. As from level 2 of this grid, the T.A.N. is required, this is why we wish to define of it the rules well as the methods of passage and obtaining. The people entitled to allot the test are the judges and expert qualifiers for the hound group approved by the S.C.C.

· Be registered in a Origin Register Book recognized by the F.C.I.

· Be tattooed

· Have 10 month at least (unbounded of maximum age for one probationary period)

2) Owners' duties

They will have to make the request of the passage of T.A.N. near the clubs of drives approved by the C.N.U.L. or of club FALAPA.

The day of the test, the owners will have to be provided with :

· The tattoo card

· The birth certificate or the pedigree recognized by the F.C.I.

3) Duties of organizers and person entitled to allot the T.A.N.

A maximum of 3 presentations to the test is granted and only in the event of adjournment. This is why it is imperative that each presentation as well as the result are registered on the form.

The price of the passage of the T.A.N. is fixed by the committee of the FALAPA and is shared per half between the organizers and Club FALAPA.

In all the cases, will have to be reproduced on the aforementioned document:

· Date, place, nature of the test (T.A.N.)

· Name and signature of the organizing club

· Name and signature of the person entitled to allot the test, and his decision, (granted, deferred or refused) and the reason for the two last decisions.

4) Unfolding of the T.A.N.

The TA.N. could be allotted to the sighthounds which will satisfy the tests jointly:

a) of sociability with respect to the man (during the control of tattooing)

b) of sociability with respect to the other dogs (for example to join together the sighthounds and the owners to explain the test and to observe)

c) of aptitude to be continued alone, on a course of type open or closed, a 200 meters length minimum, punctuated by 2 turns of different direction forming angles from 110 with 120° minimum. The lure will be made up imperatively of a good piece of rabbit skin and plastic strips. It will be tractor drawn remotely sufficient to interest the sighthound. The capture of the lure not being imperative, we will be ensured of the manifest interest of the greyhound for this one.

· minor problems of sociability

· abandonment, disinterest of the lure

· major problems of sociability

· failure at the 3rd presentation

The form is to be filled in 3 specimens and it rests with the organizing club to ventilate them in the following way :

· 1 to the owner

· 1 to the organizer club

· 1 to the FALAPA Club

5) Transformation of the B.A.C. (Racing Aptitude Patent) or of the B.P.V. (Lure Coursing Patent)

All B.A.C. or B.P.V. can be transformed in T.A.N. by simple sending of the photocopy of the document certified conforms to the address above.

6) Rights and duties of the F.A.L.A.P.A. Club

The F.A.L.A.P.A. Club will send, to the interested service of the Canine Society, the T.A.N. granted for update on the pedigree.

The F.A.L.A.P.A. Club reserves itself the right to refuse any T.A.N. not having respected the rules and the methods presented on this document.

What is the T.A.N. ?

The T.A.N. or Natural Aptitude Test is a small test during which it is checked if the sighthound preserved its aptitudes of hunter at sight. The expert qualifier controls initially that the animal is neither aggressive nor too timorous towards the humans and the other dogs. Then, the sighthound must follow a lure during 200 meters minimum, with 2 turns. This T.A.N. is required during the quotation of a dog in the grid of selection (level 2), the sighthound can be presented to this test as of age the 10 months and unbounded maximum for the moment.

Caution : We are during one probationary period where this test has been just approved. It is opened with the hounds of any age for the moment, that will not be always the case.

Where do you go to pass the T.A.N. ?

All clubs of drive E.N.C. (track racing) or P.V.L. (lure coursing) approved by the S.C.C. are entitled to organize a test of T.A.N. It is thus enough for the owners to sighthounds to be addressed to the club nearest to his residence.

T.A.N., B.A.C. et B.P.V. ?

A having greyhound or the B.A.C. (Racing Patent on oval track racing) or the B.P.V. (Lure Coursing Patent) can not be subjected to the T.A.N. One of these 2 patents can be transformed into T.A.N., for that it is enough to send of it the photocopy certified in town hall, by a president of club of race or by certificate on the honour of the owner, to Bertrand PIAU - Le Marais - 41170 SAINT AVIT, accompanied by an envelope stamped at your address.

What becomes the T.A.N. ?

Each T.A.N. is recorded by Bertrand PIAU, the list is submitted to the members of the committee which validates it before being sent its to the S.C.C.

A first list of T.A.N. was approved starting from the files of the club. It may be that your sighthound passed the T.A.N. during F.A.L.A.P.A Dog Show of the years spent, and which it is not reproduced on this list. In this case, we ask you to send the certified photocopy of the document given to this occasion with Bertrand PIAU.
